CHAPTER NEWS
door alarms to families who live in apartment complexes to assist the parents
in monitoring their children. The families that will be served are ones that have
ongoing cases with DCF. We have applied to the Swimming Pool Education
& Safety Foundation for a grant with the Chapter matching the funds and Safe
Kids contributing as well. I am pleased to announce that
HaganAce Hardware
has stepped up to the plate and is selling us the alarms to us at cost! We are
working on the press release and will keep you updated. It will be the middle
to the end of March before everything is ready. We are starting by providing
350 door alarms, static clings for doors reminding people there is a pool and/
or pond nearby and handouts about childhood drowning. We are so excited
about this new partnership and hope to take it to the state level.
We are also working on collaborating with DOH on the pools that have been
cited for safety violations regarding hooks, ropes, life rings and signs. I cannot
release too much information on this yet but it is exciting! We will keep you
updated on this project as it progresses. You should be extremely proud of
being a member of the FSPA Northeast Chapter. If you are not a member –
why not? Join today!
Additionally, we are speaking with a couple of organizations about providing
swimming lesson to autistic children. There are some providers we are working
with who are securing additional training for their swim instructors.

annual Table Top/Member Appreciation. A list of potential CE classes has
been distributed to the members – thank you to those who have submitted
your requests. please submit any and all suggestions to the Board for events
